Privacy & cookies

Last updated 17 August 2026

We keep data collection on this site to a minimum. There are no advertising trackers, no mailing-list pop-ups and no account sign-up. Spotify, YouTube and Shopify only load after you choose to use them.

Who we are

Scars of Protest is responsible for the personal information handled through this website. If you have a question, email scarsofprotest@gmail.com.

What we may receive

  • Basic technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as an IP address, browser details and access logs.
  • Anything you include when you email us about a booking, press enquiry, collaboration or another question.
  • Order and delivery details when you buy merch. The shop and checkout are provided by Shopify.
  • Information handled by Spotify, YouTube or Shopify if you choose to load or open those services.

Why we use it

We use technical information to keep the site working and secure. We use messages to reply to you and deal with enquiries. We use order information to fulfil purchases and meet any legal or accounting duties.

Our legal basis is usually our legitimate interest in running the band and website, taking steps you ask us to take, or meeting a legal obligation. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies and similar storage

The site itself is designed to work without optional tracking. Our hosting provider may process essential technical information to deliver and secure it.

Spotify, YouTube and Shopify stay switched off until you press a load button or follow a link. If you load them, those companies may use cookies, local storage or similar technology for playback, basket, checkout, security and their own services. You can choose not to load them and can clear their storage in your browser.

Who helps run the site

We use service providers for website hosting, email, music and video players, and merch checkout. These currently include OpenAI Sites, Google and YouTube, Spotify, Shopify and our email provider. Some may process information outside the UK under their own safeguards and privacy terms.

How long we keep things

We keep messages only for as long as they are useful for the enquiry or our records. Purchase information is kept for as long as needed to fulfil the order and meet legal or accounting requirements. Technical logs are kept according to our hosting provider’s security and retention arrangements.

Your rights

You may have the right to ask for access to your information, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how it is used, or receive a portable copy. These rights depend on the circumstances. Email us and we will help.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office ↗.

If the site grows

If we add a fan zone, newsletter, member accounts or new tracking tools, we will update this notice and add any consent controls that are needed before they go live.
